Product Overview
This Citrus Pu-erh (Xiao Qing Gan) tea is crafted from young green mandarin oranges harvested in Xinhui (via Fujian’s tea processing centers), paired with ripe Pu-erh tea sourced from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan. Each piece is made by carefully hollowing the fresh citrus, filling it with mellow ripe Pu-erh, and gently drying it using traditional low-temperature techniques. The dried fruit is round and compact with a glossy peel, while the tea inside is finely chopped and rich. This fusion of citrus and fermented tea offers both depth and freshness. Conveniently portioned and individually wrapped, it’s an ideal choice for easy daily brewing and storage.
Taste & Aroma
The liquor is a deep amber-red with high clarity. On the palate, the first note is a bright citrusy sweetness, followed by the warm, earthy richness of ripe Pu-erh. The aroma blends aged peel with mild woodiness and a hint of dried fruit. Early steeps highlight the refreshing fragrance of the mandarin, while later steeps bring forward the softness and complexity of the tea base. The finish is smooth, sweet, and lingering, making this tea especially comforting during cooler months.
Health Benefits
Citrus Pu-erh combines the digestive and respiratory benefits of citrus peel with the gut-soothing properties of ripe Pu-erh. It helps regulate Qi, reduce phlegm, warm the stomach, relieve bloating, and clear internal heat. The citrus peel is rich in flavonoids and essential oils that promote metabolism and detoxification, while fermented Pu-erh aids in lipid metabolism and supports gut health. It’s a gentle, daily wellness tea suitable for those prone to coldness, irregular diets, or high-fat meals.
Brewing Guide
Citrus Pu-erh tea is durable and forgiving, making it ideal for both fast brews and boiling preparation. Recommended brewing method:
- Tea-to-Water Ratio: 1 whole citrus ball (6–8g) per 300ml (10 oz) of water
- Water Temperature: 100°C (212°F) boiling water
-
Brewing Method:
- Brew the whole fruit without breaking the peel for a balanced infusion
- Rinse quickly (5 sec), then steep the first drinkable infusion for ~10 seconds
- Increase steeping time by 5–10 seconds for subsequent brews
- Alternatively, simmer gently on low heat for 5–10 minutes for enhanced aroma
- Re-steeping: 8 to 10 infusions or more when simmered
- Recommended Vessels: Gaiwan, glass pot, or a stovetop-friendly kettle
