Product Overview
This Dianhong Golden Needle is harvested before the Qingming Festival in spring 2025 from ancient high-mountain tea gardens in Lincang, Yunnan Province. Carefully crafted using traditional Dianhong black tea techniques, it is made from single tender buds of the first spring flush. The dry leaves are thick, straight, and covered in golden down, giving them a glossy, needle-like appearance that inspires the name. As a high-grade form of Yunnan black tea, Golden Needle is prized for its rich aroma, elegant form, and deep flavor. Once brewed, it yields a golden-red liquor and an enveloping aroma, making it a distinguished representative of Dianhong teas.
Taste & Aroma
Golden Needle opens with a honeyed aroma layered with fruit and floral undertones—intense but not overpowering, and naturally sweet. On the palate, it is smooth and velvety, with a mellow body and lingering sweetness that coats the mouth and leaves a pleasant echo in the throat. The tea liquor is bright and clear with a golden-red hue, offering visual appeal along with layered complexity. The overall experience is warm, gentle, and deeply satisfying, ideal for morning invigoration or a soothing afternoon session.
Health Benefits
As a lightly fermented black tea, Dianhong Golden Needle is rich in polyphenols, flavonoids, caffeine, and aromatic compounds. These components may support circulation, aid digestion, boost metabolism, and provide antioxidant benefits. Its naturally warm nature makes it particularly suitable for those with cold constitutions or during the transition between seasons. With regular moderate consumption, this tea can help relieve fatigue, warm the body, and elevate mood, offering a harmonious balance between indulgence and wellness.
Brewing Guide
Golden Needle’s thick buds and aromatic richness respond best to high-temperature brewing, which helps release its depth and sweetness. Recommended method:
- Tea-to-Water Ratio: Use 3g of tea per 150ml (5 oz) of water
- Water Temperature: Around 95°C (203°F) for optimal flavor extraction
-
Brewing Method:
- Use a porcelain gaiwan or teapot; preheat the vessel before adding tea
- Steep the first infusion for 20–30 seconds; extend slightly for each subsequent brew
- Use a fairness pitcher to ensure even flavor distribution
- Re-steeping: Suitable for 5 to 6 infusions with stable color and rich taste throughout
- Recommended Vessels: A gaiwan highlights aroma and clarity, while a clay teapot deepens body and smoothness
