Product Overview
This Dong Ding Oolong is a 2025 spring harvest from Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China. Made from premium oolong varietals and processed using traditional light-oxidation and gentle roasting techniques, the dry leaves are tightly rolled, deep green with a golden sheen. Upon brewing, it releases a vibrant floral fragrance and yields a bright honey-gold liquor. As a hallmark of high-aroma southern oolongs, Dong Ding Oolong is beloved for its smooth body, elegant fragrance, and refreshing sweetness—a true classic among lightly oxidized teas.
Taste & Aroma
When brewed, Dong Ding Oolong offers a clean, uplifting aroma dominated by orchid and light milk notes. The liquor is a clear golden yellow with a silky texture. Its taste is delicate yet full, beginning with crisp floral high notes, softening into a creamy, mellow mid-palate, and finishing with a gentle, lasting sweetness. The tea has excellent clarity, a bright aroma that lingers, and a graceful throat feel. Balanced and refined, this tea is ideal for both quiet contemplation and sharing with guests.
Health Benefits
As a lightly oxidized oolong tea, Dong Ding is rich in polyphenols, catechins, amino acids, and aromatic compounds. It may provide antioxidant benefits, support digestion, refresh the mind, and help regulate metabolism. Its soothing aroma and smooth character make it a perfect choice for unwinding during busy afternoons or enhancing focus during creative work. Gentle in nature and easy on the stomach, it is especially suitable for spring and summer. Regular drinking may aid in wellness, clarity, and inner calm.
Brewing Guide
Dong Ding Oolong performs best with mid-to-high temperature water to release its layered aroma and lingering sweetness. Recommended brewing method:
- Tea-to-Water Ratio: 8g of tea per 150 ml (5 oz) of water
- Water Temperature: 90–95°C (194–203°F)
-
Brewing Method:
- Use a porcelain gaiwan or teapot; preheat before adding tea
- Rinse the leaves quickly to awaken them, discarding the first infusion
- For the first proper brew, steep for about 30 seconds, extending time slightly for subsequent infusions
- Use a fairness cup to ensure balanced flavor in every pour
- Re-steeping: Can be brewed 6–8 times, with stable aroma and smooth taste throughout
- Recommended Vessels: A gaiwan brings out the aroma layers clearly, while a clay teapot adds depth and body—both are ideal depending on preference
