Product Overview
This Huangshan Maofeng green tea is harvested before the Qingming Festival in spring 2025, from the misty highlands of Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) in Anhui, China. Carefully picked from one bud and one just-unfolded leaf, the tea is crafted using traditional methods that preserve its elegant appearance and fresh quality. The dry leaves are slightly curved and covered in fine silvery fuzz, with a pale green-yellow hue and sharp, pointed tips resembling mountain peaks. Known as one of China’s top ten famous teas, Huangshan Maofeng reflects the spirit of its alpine origin — clean, refined, and full of life.
Taste & Aroma
The aroma of Huangshan Maofeng is fresh and long-lasting, with delicate notes of orchid and roasted chestnut. It offers a soft, smooth mouthfeel, with a crisp start that quickly turns to lingering sweetness. The taste is gentle and refreshing, free of bitterness or harshness, leaving the palate clean and the throat soothed. The liquor is bright yellow-green, and the infused leaves unfold evenly like flower petals. With its serene elegance and wild mountain energy, this tea is ideal for quiet moments and daily enjoyment.
Health Benefits
As a high-mountain green tea, Huangshan Maofeng is naturally rich in antioxidants such as polyphenols, chlorophyll, amino acids, and vitamin C. These compounds may help reduce oxidative stress, support digestion, and promote healthy metabolism. Its gentle caffeine content helps awaken the mind and refresh the body, making it a suitable drink for focus and clarity. In traditional Chinese tea culture, it is considered cooling in nature and is especially suitable for warm weather or individuals with a heat-prone constitution.
Brewing Guide
Due to its tender leaves and delicate aroma, Huangshan Maofeng should be brewed with care to preserve its subtle flavors. Recommended method:
- Tea-to-Water Ratio: Use 3g of tea per 150ml (5 oz) of water
- Water Temperature: Between 80°C and 85°C (176–185°F); avoid overheating
- Brewing Method:
- Pour water first, then add tea to prevent scorching
- Gently swirl the cup to help the leaves unfold and settle
- Steep for about 40 seconds in the first infusion; extend time slightly for subsequent brews
- Re-steeping: Suitable for 3 to 4 infusions with a consistently clean and sweet taste
- Recommended Vessels: A transparent glass or white porcelain gaiwan allows appreciation of the leaf shape and color
