Product Overview
This Keemun Black Tea is crafted from the 2025 spring harvest in Qimen County, Huangshan, Anhui Province, China. Recognized as one of the world’s three most aromatic black teas, it is made from heirloom local tea cultivars and processed using the traditional “Qihong” method. The dry leaves are delicately twisted, with a lustrous black color accented by golden tips. Known globally as the “Queen of Black Tea,” Keemun has long been favored as the base of classic English afternoon teas and was once chosen as a national gift from China to foreign dignitaries. It represents the pinnacle of Chinese black tea craftsmanship and elegance.
Taste & Aroma
Keemun Black Tea offers a refined and lasting fragrance upon brewing, featuring a graceful blend of orchid, fruit, and honey notes. The liquor is bright red with a radiant clarity, and the flavor is smooth, soft, and slightly sweet with a lingering aftertaste. The famed “Keemun aroma” unfolds gradually through each infusion—first revealing floral notes, then mellow fruity tones, and finally a hint of honey interlaced with woodiness. The overall character is gentle, complex, and elegant—an ideal tea for slow, meditative sipping.
Health Benefits
As a lightly fermented black tea, Keemun is rich in polyphenols, flavonoids, caffeine, and aromatic compounds. It may help enhance mental alertness, support metabolism, warm the digestive system, and provide antioxidant protection. Its calming aroma is also known to soothe the nerves and uplift the spirit, making it especially suitable for those seeking balance in a hectic lifestyle. With a naturally warming nature, Keemun is easy on the stomach and suitable for all seasons. Regular consumption may promote both physical well-being and a refined sense of serenity.
Brewing Guide
To best express its delicate layers of aroma and smooth mouthfeel, Keemun Black Tea should be brewed at medium to high temperatures. Recommended parameters are:
- Tea-to-Water Ratio: 3g of tea per 150 ml (5 oz) of water
- Water Temperature: Around 90°C (194°F)
-
Brewing Method:
- Use a porcelain gaiwan or glass teaware to appreciate both aroma and liquor clarity
- Steep the first infusion for about 20 seconds, then gradually extend the steeping time for subsequent brews
- Pour into a fairness cup to maintain balanced flavor throughout
- Re-steeping: Can be brewed 4–6 times, maintaining aroma and smoothness
- Recommended Vessels: A gaiwan enhances aroma articulation, while glass teaware showcases the vivid liquor—suitable for both formal and casual tea settings
