Product Overview
This Silver Needle (Baihao Yinzhen) white tea is an early spring 2025 harvest from the core tea-growing region of Fuding, Ningde City, Fujian Province, China. Picked just before the Qingming Festival, it consists exclusively of plump, tender buds that are hand-selected and sun-withered using traditional techniques. The dry buds are straight and covered in fine silvery-white fuzz, resembling needles of frost—hence the name “Silver Needle.” As the highest grade of white tea, Silver Needle is celebrated for its elegant appearance and pure, refined character, often hailed as the “King of White Tea.”
Taste & Aroma
Silver Needle brews into a pale apricot-yellow liquor that is bright and translucent. The aroma is soft yet high-toned, with notes of fresh hay, soybean, and hints of lotus blossom. The mouthfeel is smooth and light, offering a delicate sweetness and lasting clarity. It leaves a subtle, lingering finish in the throat, refreshing both body and mind. As the infusions progress, the fragrance becomes more rounded and the taste deepens, embodying the white tea philosophy of “light but with depth, mild but with character.”
Health Benefits
As a lightly oxidized white tea, Silver Needle is rich in polyphenols, amino acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. It is known for its cooling, detoxifying properties—supporting lung health, relieving heat, soothing sore throats, and refreshing the mind. With its gentle, non-irritating nature, it is especially suitable for spring and summer consumption. Silver Needle is often regarded as an ideal tea for wellness and daily self-care, offering both purity and nourishment.
Brewing Guide
Due to its delicate buds and subtle aroma, Silver Needle performs best with lower temperatures and a gentle brewing style. Recommended parameters:
- Tea-to-Water Ratio: 3g of tea per 150ml (5 oz) of water
- Water Temperature: 80–85°C (176–185°F)
-
Brewing Method:
- Use a glass cup, porcelain gaiwan, or a clear pitcher; preheat the vessel first
- Use the “top pour” method to avoid direct high-temperature shock to the tender buds
- For the first infusion, steep for 50–60 seconds; extend time gradually with each brew
- Re-steeping: Suitable for 5 to 7 infusions, maintaining a stable taste and enduring fragrance
- Recommended Vessels: Glassware for visual appreciation of the unfolding buds; gaiwan for better control of temperature and aroma
