Product Overview

This Tie Guan Yin is harvested in the spring of 2025 from the core tea-producing region of Anxi, Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China. It is crafted using traditional light-oxidation oolong tea techniques. The dry leaves are tightly rolled with a rich, glossy green appearance, and once steeped, they unfurl into vibrant leaves with the signature “red edge on green leaf.” Tie Guan Yin, one of China’s Ten Famous Teas, is revered for its distinctive “Guanyin Yun” (Guanyin charm), combining the freshness of green tea with the richness of black tea—an iconic representative of Chinese oolong craftsmanship.

Taste & Aroma

Upon brewing, Tie Guan Yin releases an elegant orchid aroma with notes of sweet cream and floral freshness. The liquor is light golden or honey yellow, clear and bright. The taste is smooth and full-bodied, with a refreshing clarity and lingering sweetness. It opens with crisp floral tones, deepens into a mellow richness, and finishes with a sweet aftertaste and persistent fragrance in the throat. Its layered flavor and long-lasting aroma make it ideal for meditative solo sessions or shared tea gatherings—refined, comforting, and endlessly enjoyable.

Health Benefits

As a semi-oxidized oolong, Tie Guan Yin is rich in polyphenols, amino acids, vitamins, and aromatic compounds. It offers a range of health benefits including boosting alertness, aiding digestion, refreshing the throat, reducing internal heat, and promoting antioxidant activity. Its uplifting aroma can also relieve fatigue and reduce stress. Gentle in nature, it is particularly suitable for spring and autumn consumption. Regular moderate drinking may support metabolism, regulate bodily functions, and contribute to overall wellness.

Brewing Guide

Tie Guan Yin is best brewed at medium to high temperatures to highlight its complex aroma and lingering sweetness. Recommended parameters:

  • Tea-to-Water Ratio: 8g of tea per 150 ml (5 oz) of water
  • Water Temperature: 90–95°C (194–203°F)
  • Brewing Method:
    • Use a white porcelain gaiwan or teapot; preheat the vessel before adding tea
    • Steep the first infusion for about 30 seconds, gradually increasing by 5–10 seconds per infusion
    • Pour into a fairness cup to ensure balanced flavor across servings
  • Re-steeping: Can be steeped 6–8 times, maintaining aroma and body
  • Recommended Vessels: A gaiwan reveals aromatic layers, while a clay teapot is ideal for deeper daily infusions—both excellent options
