Product Overview
This Zhangping Shuixian is a 2025 spring oolong tea, sourced from Zhangping City in Fujian Province, China. Unlike most oolongs, it is traditionally pressed into compact square bricks—a unique form that sets it apart in both appearance and character. The dry tea features dark green and reddish hues, with a dense, substantial feel and intact leaves. Combining the elegant orchid fragrance of the Shuixian cultivar with the slow-release charm of compressed tea, Zhangping Shuixian is a rare and distinctive expression of southern Fujian’s tea heritage.
Taste & Aroma
When brewed, Zhangping Shuixian reveals a rich, layered bouquet dominated by orchid notes, accompanied by subtle milky sweetness and ripe fruit undertones. The liquor is a bright, clear amber-gold, and the mouthfeel is smooth and full. The flavor is mellow and rounded, with a soft, lingering sweetness in the throat. Thanks to its compressed form, the tea opens gradually across multiple infusions—beginning with deep richness and softening into a gentle floral elegance. It is a tea best enjoyed slowly, inviting contemplation and sensory appreciation.
Health Benefits
As a lightly to moderately oxidized oolong, Zhangping Shuixian contains abundant polyphenols, flavonoids, amino acids, and aromatic compounds. It may support mental clarity, aid digestion, nourish the stomach and throat, and provide antioxidant protection. Its soothing floral profile helps relieve stress and enhance focus, making it ideal for afternoon or meditative tea sessions. Regular consumption may improve metabolism, regulate energy, and foster a calming tea lifestyle that nourishes both body and spirit.
Brewing Guide
Due to its compressed form, Zhangping Shuixian is best brewed with a gentle and patient approach to allow full unfolding of flavor and aroma. Suggested guidelines:
- Tea-to-Water Ratio: One small brick (approx. 8g) per 150 ml (5 oz) of water
- Water Temperature: 90–95°C (194–203°F)
-
Brewing Method:
- Preheat the vessel and rinse the tea briefly (discard the first steep to awaken the leaves)
- For the first full infusion, steep for 30 seconds; extend steeping time for each subsequent infusion
- Use a fairness cup to ensure flavor consistency in every pour
- Re-steeping: Can be steeped 7–9 times, with the aroma gradually unfolding over time
- Recommended Vessels: A porcelain gaiwan for clarity and precision, or a clay teapot for depth and warmth
